It has sweeping movement with expression and has varying tonalities of light and dark which adds drama as well as further depth. Colours that can be discovered are deep indigo, midnight blue, light sea blues, light grey, mauve, hints of olive earthy green, and of course the creamy white art silk. Wool and silk have different reflective properties so there are not not only colour contrasts apparent in this carpet but also the shimmer of the contrast between the varying wool and silk areas which add further interest absorbing light in different ways.

How is this Carpet Created?

This carpet is made by hand on an upright loom. The loom is strung with cotton warps which run longitundinally through the length of the carpet. Each knot of woollen yarn or silk threads are tied onto cotton warps which make the foundation of the carpet. Between each row of knots the weaver threads cotton wefts across the width of the carpet. The cotton warps and wefts give a good structural foundation to the carpet. The pure wool pile and silk highlights within it are extremely durable.

Where to Place this Modern Abstract Carpet

This statement piece would look magnificent in a lounge, sittingroom, cinema room, hallway or a games room.
