Classic Afghan patterns are produced as well as Caucasian designs, Persian designs and occasionally maps and pictorials.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe warp threads of these Afghan Rugs are made of silk – this silk is rather wiry to the touch. Silk makes an excellent warp thread: it has impressive tensile strength whilst its thin, fine nature allows for extra fine knotting. Often prestigious rugs will have silk warps\/fringes. Sometimes these long silk fringes are left long, but can easily be reduced to the desired length. The weft threads are of wool.
