Afghanistan has a rich heritage of rug and Kilim weaving from its tribal traditions. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis Kilim rug was made in the town of Labijar in northern Afghanistan. Oriental rugs are often named after the place in which they were made or after the tribe that woven them.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Kilims woven in Labijar are of an excellent quality. Both traditional and contemporary designs are woven. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eWhat is it made from?\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOften hand-spun, vegetable dyed wool is used for the weaving and wool or cotton for the warp threads. This rug has cotton warp threads. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe warp threads are the first materials to be secured to the loom. These strings are tightly stretched from the top of the loom to the bottom.
