Pattern and Texture in Kilim Furniture

This vintage Anatolian kilim bench stool is a superb example of a clever use of pattern placement in the skilled craft of the art of upholstery with textiles.  It has captivating geometric motifs in softened earthy tones and can be placed in diverse locations around the home. The flatweave that was used to upholster this bench was created with pure wool yarn and is robust, unique and finely woven.

Vintage Anatolian Kilims are repurposed artistically and creatively into another art form by using them as an upholstery textile. This piece showcases a large medallion from an original old Turkish Kilim and on the bench stool it creates a dynamic pattern with the bands of radiating motifs. Also find all-over traditional motifs of hooked stylized flowers interspersed with highly geometricised sawtooth patterns.

Great Craftmanship

The original kilim is handwoven with beautiful colours that have softened over time. The bench stool is also neatly and expertly created. Careful artistic decisions are made for the choice and pattern part of the kilim for the size of the bench. There is craftmanship  in the firm padding and construction to form perfect seating and also level surface to place trays, coffee table books, or objets d'arte. The wooden legs are sturdy and elegantly turned.
