Underlays
Make sure you have an underlay in place. An underlay acts as a protective cushion, stops the rug from sliding, prevents bunching, and stops trapped dirt from grinding down the old threads from underneath.

Village Rugs
Village rugs are crafted in rural villages across Persia (Iran) and Afghanistan. Woven on vertical looms, their lower knot density naturally lends itself to geometric patterns. Weavers typically follow Wagirehs, small sample rugs, as guides. These rugs are made from wool hand-knotted onto a cotton foundation.
Nomadic Persian Rugs
Nomadic Persian rugs are woven by nomadic or semi-settled tribal communities and represent one of the oldest and most traditional forms of weaving. Using portable horizontal looms, these weavers create geometric designs featuring ancient motifs passed down through generations. Nomadic rugs typically feature a wool pile hand-knotted onto wool warp threads, though semi-settled weavers may use a wool-on-cotton construction.
